ATLANTIC CITY — Two city residents were arrested Thursday after a monthlong shooting investigation led to the recovery of a handgun and more than a pound of marijuana, police said.

Rafael Gomez, 24, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, two counts of aggravated assault, use of a 17-year-old or younger to commit a criminal offense, conspiracy, possession of an extended magazine, possession of hollow-point ammunition, two counts of certain person not to possess a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone, possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone and money laundering.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and conspiracy.

Gomez is being held in the Atlantic County jail, while the boy was sent to the Harborfields juvenile detention facility in Egg Harbor City.
Officers responded to South Carolina and Magellan avenues at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 for a gunshot alert and found evidence of gunfire. No injuries were reported, police said Thursday in a news release.
Police said video showed Gomez dropping the boy off in the area where the shots were fired and fleeing once the boy returned to the vehicle.
Police searched a home in the 1500 block of Baltic Avenue and seized the loaded weapon and marijuana, the department said.
