CLARE CO., Mich. (WNEM) – A Florida man and a man from Cuba were arrested in Clare County after stolen trucks and illegal marijuana were found on a Frost Township property.

The Clare County Sheriff’s office said on Wednesday, March 12, at about 10:40 a.m., dispatch received a call from law enforcement in Branch County requesting assistance locating a stolen black 2025 Ford F-350. The sheriff’s office said the truck had been stolen from a dealership in Cold Water, and investigators were able to get a ping of its location in the area of the 2000 block of East Haskell Lake Road in Frost Township.

Clare County detectives responded to the area and found the stolen truck parked partially behind a residence. Detectives made contact and learned 40-year-old Yoandy Ozuna-Lara, of Florida, had recently moved into the home, the sheriff’s office said. While on scene, detectives checked two other trucks, a 2024 Ford F-250 and a 2024 Ford F-250, and discovered both were stolen, one from Arizona and one from Colorado.

The sheriff’s office said detectives obtained a search warrant for the property and found an illegal marijuana grow inside a pole barn located on the property.

When the search was done, detectives seized the three stolen trucks, 75 marijuana plants, about 1 pound of cultivated marijuana, an unregistered 9mm pistol, and $10,000 in cash.

Ozuna-Lara, who was the homeowner, was arrested and charged with the following:

One count of receiving and concealing stolen goods over $20,000One count of maintaining a drug houseOne count of weapons felony firearmOne count of possession of a pistol without a license

He was lodged in the Clare County Jail on a 10% bond of $60,000.

A second man, 32-year-old Yasmani Plasencia Diaz, of Cuba, who had been previously staying in Wheeler was also arrested.

He was charged with receiving and concealing stolen goods over $20,000. His 10% bond was set at $25,000, and a hold was placed on him with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement because he is not a U.S. citizen, the sheriff’s office said.
