A 21-year-old Lorain man was arrested Aug. 29 after police said they found more than 500 grams of marijuana in his vehicle along with a stolen gun.

Elyria police charged Luis Feliciano with resisting arrest, obstruction of official business, receiving stolen property, having weapons while under disability, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, trafficking in drugs, possession of a controlled substance, possession of criminal tools, driving under suspension and display of license plates, according to an Elyria Police Department report.

At 8:30 p.m., Elyria police officers stopped Feliciano in the 6800 block of West River Road while conducting a registration check on his vehicle and discovered his license plate expired Aug. 13, the report stated.

Police learned he also was wanted on warrants issued by the Avon Lake Municipal Court, the report stated.

As officers were attempting to arrest Feliciano, he began to resist until he heard one of the officers call for additional officers to respond to the scene, the report stated.

While searching the vehicle, officers found a black 9mm handgun on the floor board of the rear passenger seat, the report stated.

The gun was reported stolen to the Amherst Police Department, the report stated.

Officers also located a small colorful backpack lying on the front passenger floor board, which contained a digital scale with residue on it, the report stated.

Multiple plastic bags containing about 530 grams of marijuana were found inside the vehicle along with an open pack of plastic sandwich bags in addition to a plastic bottle that was modified into a scooping device were discovered in the bag, the report stated.

Feliciano was transported to the Lorain County Jail where he was lodged on a $70,000 bond, according to jail records.

He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 3.
