Three men who had pleaded guilty in a May 2022 robbery and homicide of a man lured to Columbus’ East Side for a drug sale received their sentences.

Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Kimberly Cocroft sentenced Willie and Zacharias Mullen, brothers who are ages 23 and 21, respectively, and 22-year-old Tony Cunningham, each to 20 to 23 years in prison.

The Mullens and Cunningham each previously pleaded guilty to abduction, aggravated robbery and involuntary manslaughter for the May 4, 2022, death of 21-year-old Raquan Thomas.

Cocroft had previously sentenced a fourth man, 25-year-old Jeremiah Jackson, to 23 to 27 years in prison.

Court records say Thomas went to a parking lot on the 6100 block of McNaughten Center for what he believed was to be a marijuana sale. When he got to the arranged meeting spot, the four men approached Thomas and fired at him.

Jackson had used another person’s Instagram account to set up the phony sale, court records say.

Thomas died at Mount Carmel East hospital from multiple gunshot wounds.
