LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) – A Florida man is going to prison after a Tuesday court hearing in Gregg County for a 2019 weed bust.

Marvin Ralston Wynter, 50, of Port Saint Lucie, was arrested on Jan. 20, 2019, after he and a codefendant were found with 90 pounds of marijuana candies and nearly 200 pounds of marijuana during a Gregg County traffic stop. Wynter submitted an open plea of guilt in Judge Alfonso Charles’ court Tuesday and was given a 10-year prison sentence.

Wynter and his codefendant, Klaus Henry Williams, 41, of Malabar, Fl, were stopped on I-20 by DPS troopers before their arrests. The search included the assistance of a K-9 officer. Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana and booked into the Gregg County Jail.

During Williams’ sentencing, he said they were traveling from Oregon to Florida and that he was aware of drugs in the vehicle. Williams was sentenced to 12 years’ confinement on March 5.

The state requested 12 years’ confinement for Wynter, and the defense requested probation. Charles sentenced him to 10 years for each charge. The sentences are set to run concurrently.
