Hemp industry stakeholders have challenged California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) emergency ban on certain hemp products in state court, saying it would wreck the emerging industry and was executed as an “end-run” around the legislature.

The ban on hemp products with detectable levels of THC—the psychoactive compound in marijuana—contradicts state and federal law and is unconstitutionally vague, business group U.S. Hemp Roundtable Inc. and a coalition of California hemp farmers and businessmen argued.
