Punta Gorda man accused of stealing over $30K worth of marijuana from dispensary

A Punta Gorda man was arrested after stealing approximately $30,000 worth of marijuana and other merchandise from a dispensary.Tyrese Jackson, 23, is facing multiple charges after being accused of breaking into Curaleaf on Kings Highway in Port Charlotte.On Friday, Sept. 27, around 2:45 a.m., Charlotte County deputies responded to Curaleaf for reports of a burglary. When they arrived, deputies say it was obvious someone had used a tool to pry the door open.Detectives viewed security footage from the business which showed a black car enter the rear parking lot and park.Jackson was seen exiting the vehicle wearing dark clothes and a mask, according to CCSO. Deputies say Jackson pried the back door open and put a piece of cardboard in the door to prevent it from closing.According to reports, he then drove away and returned 10 minutes later before going inside. Once inside, deputies say Jackson collected merchandise and made multiple trips back and forth to his car before driving away.Deputies say approximately $30,000 worth of marijuana and merchandise was stolen.Upon further investigations, detectives say they were able to identify the bran of boots Jackson was wearing in security footage. A search warrant was conducted on Jackson’s home where deputies say they found multiple Curaleaf items and packages, along with the shoes Jackson was seen wearing on the Curaleaf security footage.
