EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Evansville Police say they charged a man with dealing synthetic marijuana in an arrest made Saturday.

Officers were called to an area of Covert Avenue and Highway 41 to investigate a report about a man in the parking lot smoking K2.

Police arrived and approached the man, later identified as 54-year-old Darrin  Field.

EPD says Field was making rapid movements and shouting, and that he had residue consistent with the use of synthetic marijuana on his hand.

Officers say Field was trying to hide a bag, which he claimed had “money, mace, and keys” inside.

Police say they patted Field down but that he tensed up and resisted.

Officers say they eventually discovered a bag of of about 30 grams of synthetic marijuana. They said Field claimed someone gave it to him, and then said that he used to do harder drugs but likes to “keep it green.”

Field was arrested and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail, where he’s charged with dealing and resisting law enforcement.
