HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. – Eight former employees of a medical marijuana dispensary and a former Arkansas police officer were arrested after a medical marijuana fraud investigation, according to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.

The agency said that the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement Division (ABC) arrested the former employees and former police officer on Monday, October 7.

ABC conducted a “lengthy” investigation into the Green Light Dispensary in Helena, West Helena, after being alerted to the “possible diversion of medical marijuana.” Officials said that employees at the dispensary used the accounts of elderly deceased and out-of-area patients to create fraudulent transactions and illegally obtain medical marijuana. According to the ABC, employees also allowed people without a patient card to buy medical marijuana products under legitimate patient accounts.

April Jones, Shameka Wright, Gerald W. Jennings, Lauren Delk, Austen Delk, Taylor Perkins, and Demario Rose, all former employees, were arrested and charged with obtaining drugs by fraud, according to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. Also arrested, according to officials, was Greg McDaniel, who was employed as a police officer with the Helena Police Department at the time of the investigation. McDaniel was charged with obtaining drugs by fraud, use of a communication device, and delivery of a controlled substance. The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration said that McDaniel resigned his position with the police department as a result of the investigation.

Additional arrests in the case are possible. If you have any information about the dispensary and those involved in the alleged fraud, the ABC urged you to call them at 501-682-8174.
