CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – Kentucky passed a law legalizing the use and distribution of medical cannabis in the Commonwealth.

The law will go into effect on January 1 of 2025.

However, with the new law counties and cities were able to file a resolution and add cannabis business operations to the ballot, this November.

In Clay County and Manchester, voters must decide if they want cannabis businesses operating in their area.

“Everybody knows somebody who could benefit from it medically. You know cancer patients and what not Parkinson’s what not you know they’ve heard success stories. But on the other hand, they have a fear of abuse of the system,” Clay County Clerk Beverly Craft said.

Craft said the ballot will include a yes or no question for voters to answer.
