The firing of a New Jersey Transit police officer in 2022 for using legal, over-the-counter cannabidiol products was justified, a state appeals court ruled Friday.
New Jersey Transit acted properly in firing officer Stephen McGee after he failed a drug test and was found with elevated levels of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, the appeals court ruled.
McGee told his superiors he was using CBD cream and a vape to deal with inflammation and to help him sleep, according to the ruling.
