The Department of Justice said in a new court brief that marijuana companies’ lawsuit challenging federal prohibition could “frustrate” cannabis rescheduling—suggesting that if they win, the government would “lack constitutional authority to regulate marijuana as a Schedule III drug for the same reasons that it could not regulate marijuana as a Schedule I drug.”

The Hawaii Office of Medical Cannabis Control and Regulation posted a request for proposals to analyze the “demand for cannabis, both for medical cannabis and adult-use,” as lawmakers continue to consider recreational marijuana legalization.

The Minnesota Psychedelic Medicine Task Force is recommending that lawmakers pass legislation to decriminalize magic mushrooms, create a state-regulated therapeutic psilocybin program and fund clinical research on substances like MDMA and LSD.

The Texas Department of Public Safety published a report advising that the state’s limited medical cannabis system “does not provide for statewide access for patients” and recommending that the number of licensed dispensaries be significantly expanded to meet demand.
