Gov. Ron DeSantis visited Southwest Florida on Thursday with the same message all morning long, encouraging people to vote against amendments 3 and 4.Making his first stop in Fort Myers at Bay Street Yard, DeSantis was joined by many other political personnel before making his way to Cape Coral for a press conference.CLAIM: During the press conference, DeSantis went on to say Amendment 3 is horribly written and would only benefit the corporation that helped fund the amendment. “Notice how they talk about freedom. In the amendment, you won’t be able to grow your weed; you have to buy it from them,” DeSantis said.The governor continued by claiming, “This is a much worse policy than in California and Colorado, where marijuana is already recreationally legal.”DeSantis claims one big weed corporation is at the helm of the amendment and says that a CEO largely wrote it.NBC2’s Chief Political Correspondent, Dave Elias, fact-checked the claims the Republican Party makes against the amendment.FACTS: That is mostly true.
