Two Arkansas state lawmakers say they want the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission to reconsider its decision earlier this month to approve the transfer of the Speakeasy Dispensary from Pine Bluff to an unincorporated area in Prairie County.

State Reps. Jim Wooten, R-Beebe, and Roger Lynch, R-Lonoke, on Tuesday expressed their opposition to the dispensary’s relocation during the Arkansas Legislative Council and Joint Budget Committee’s budget hearing for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration for fiscal 2026, which begins July 1.

Wooten said Tuesday that relocating the dispensary’s location from Pine Bluff to “the middle of nowhere” near Lonoke County doesn’t make sense to him or to his constituents.

In a letter dated Oct. 17 to Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission Chairman James Miller, Wooten said “I am writing to encourage you and the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission to reconsider the approval on October 1, 2024, of the transfer of location for the Speakeasy Dispensary, LLC, from Pine Bluff to Ward.”
