Total monthly cannabis sales for the state have fallen 26% since March.

The Arizona marijuana market continued its lengthy slide through the month of September, clocking its lowest monthly sales numbers of the year thus far with just $83.1 million in total recreational and medical cannabis sales combined, down a whopping 26% from a high point in March, according to state data.

In March, dispensaries reported a total of $113.7 million in cannabis sales, but the numbers have been steadily ticking down every month consecutively like clockwork, according to statistics from the state Department of Revenue.

Monthly marijuana sales in Arizona since March have totaled:

$111.3 million in April
$107.9 million in May
$96.7 million in June
$92.8 million in July
$92.6 million in August

September sales included $15.8 million in medical and $67.2 million in recreational, both lows for the calendar year. March was the high point for both medical and adult use, at $24.3 million and $89.4 million, respectively.

The sales figures are on pace to fall below the 2023 full-year total of the $1.4 billion sold by Arizona dispensaries last year, the Arizona Mirror reported.

Arizona is not the only marijuana market hit by a downturn; several other state cannabis markets have been experiencing extended or at least seasonal dips, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Michigan and New Mexico, while some newer markets like New York and Ohio are still on the upswing.
