INDIANA (WPTA) – About 70% of Hoosier voters support legalizing marijuana, a new survey shows.
Causeway Solutions asked registered voters in Indiana two questions, whether they supported the legalization of marijuana for people 21 years old and older, and how a state legislator voting in favor of legalization would impact the voter’s support for them.
The survey found that 58% of Republicans polled said they support marijuana legalization while 70% of independent voters shared the same opinion. Nearly 90% of Democrats said they support marijuana legalization.
The survey also found that 70% of suburban voters and 63% of rural voters support marijuana legalization.
A majority of Republican, Democrat and independent voters said they are more likely to support a candidate to support their state legislator if they vote in favor of marijuana legalization.
A total of 16% of voters said they would be less likely to support a legislator who vote in favor of marijuana legalization.
