Families are staging a public meeting on their crime-hit street. The meeting is being held outside a boarded-up chapel on the corner of St Michael’s Road and Benson Street, in Pittshill.

It follows the discovery of 2,877 cannabis plants inside the building last month.

One resident said: “The local community of St Michael’s Road is having a lot problems with public safety and drug problems. It is partly due to the local church which had been abandoned being used as a drug den and a cannabis factory. The building is also a dangerous structure.”

The public meeting takes place at 3pm on Monday 2 December.

Staffordshire Police are yet to make any arrests following the cannabis bust. Any witnesses should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 106 of November 22. To report anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
