BLAINE, Wash. — Officials with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) report officers recently made 2 significant drug seizures around the Blaine Sector border crossings.
In 1 incident, CBP agents seized approximately 78 pounds of cocaine on Thursday, December 19th, with an estimated value of more than $1.1 million.
The seizure occurred after agents on patrol discovered 2 black backpacks lying on the ground in a wooded area near the Lynden border crossing. Upon searching the backpacks, agents found 30 brick-like packages containing a white powdery substance. The substance was later tested and determined to be cocaine.
In another incident, officers at the Peace Arch Port of Entry seized approximately 37 pounds of marijuana in 68 individual packages located inside 2 black trash bags. They were found in a vehicle after a K9 unit alerted during secondary inspection. The travelers were Vietnamese citizens who claimed to be lost.
