LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Arkansas State Police seized ecstasy, mushrooms, illegal marijuana, and promethazine after a 130 mile-per-hour pursuit on I-40, the agency said in a release Thursday.
Police said that they initiated a traffic stop on a 2010 white Chrysler 300 on Highway 67 around 10 p.m. on Dec. 20.
Authorities said the suspect vehicle then sped off, taking I-40 westbound at speeds reaching 130 miles-per-hour. The car turned off all lights and began passing cars on the shoulder of the Interstate.
The pursuit continued onto Interstate 430. The suspect exited at Colonel Glenn Road then turned onto Lawson Road where he ultimately crashed.
Police said that the driver, 24-year-old Little Rock native Malcolm Curry, fled on foot but was apprehended by Troopers shortly afterwards.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found 14 boxes of PolkaDot psychoactive mushrooms, 47 ecstasy pills, two pounds of illegal marijuana, and three bottles of promethazine.
Curry was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash. He was then transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center, where he was booked on charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fleeing, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unauthorized Use of Property, and several traffic violations.
