DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) – A 40-year-old man is charged with drug trafficking after Daphne police seized 37 pounds of marijuana and $44,000 in cash following searches of his residence and a storage unit, according to authorities.
The Daphne Police Department announced today that it received a tip early last month indicating a large amount of marijuana was being kept in a storage facility inside the city. While patrol officers were attempting to gain information about the unit’s renter, he arrived and began removing items from the unit, police said.

The DPD said the renter, Quentin Jong Davis, was approached by the officers as he was loading a large suitcase into his van. When asked, he admitted that there was marijuana in the storage unit and suitcase, police said.
Subsequent investigation and the execution of search warrants for the storage unit and the suspect’s Daphne residence led to the seizure of 37 pounds of marijuana and $44,000 in U.S. currency, officials said.
Davis was booked into jail in Baldwin County on Dec. 3 and released two days later on $150,000 bond, jail records show.
