LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Deputies say two people are behind bars after 75 pounds of marijuana was found at a home in Eastern Carolina.
The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office says a drug investigation by its Street Crimes and Rapid Response and narcotics unit led to the arrests of 25-year-old Michael Goodman and 23-year-old Alexis Johnson, both of La Grange.
With help from the Craven County Sheriff’s Office, the Havelock Police Department, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in their investigation, deputies say they got a search warrant for a home at 1908 Hullwood Drive just outside of Kinston.
While searching the home, deputies say more than 75 pounds of marijuana, along with materials to distribute, process and package the drugs were found.
Deputies say evidence was found on the scene that linked Goodman and Johnson as suspects.
Goodman was arrested at the home and charged with:
Two felony counts of trafficking marijuana A felony count of conspiracy to traffic marijuana A felony count of possession with intent to sell/deliver Schedule VI A felony count of possession of marijuana A felony count of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling A misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia
Deputies say Johnson was found and arrested during a traffic stop, where she was given the same charges.
The two were taken to the Lenoir County Jail under no-bond holds due to being out of jail on pretrial release on previous criminal charges, deputies say.
