BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – A man from China has pleaded guilty in federal court to maintaining a drug involved premises.

Xisen Guo is the first person to be charged federally in such a case in the state.

Guo is a naturalized U.S. citizen born in China.

He’s accused of transforming a Passadumkeag house into a high-tech, illegal marijuana grow operation, according to court documents.

Law enforcement says a spike in electricity bills, cardboard-covered windows, and the odor of marijuana drew their attention to the home.
