CLOSE SUNDAY. INDIANA LAWMAKERS WANT TO BAN ADVERTISEMENTS ABOUT MARIJUANA. LAWMAKERS ARE CONSIDERING TWO BILLS, ONE THAT WOULD MAKE PROMOTING MARIJUANA PRODUCTS ILLEGAL ACROSS THE STATE, AND ANOTHER ENFORCING RESTRICTIONS. THE PROPOSED LEGISLATION COMES AS INDIANA REMAINS ONE OF THE FEW STATES AGAINST LEGALIZING RECREATIONAL AND MEDICAL MARIJUANA. ONE OF THE REASONS I LIVE IN INDIANA IS BECAUSE I WANT TO LIVE IN A PLACE WHERE DRUG USE IS NOT NORMALIZED, AND I THINK THAT THE ADVERTISEMENTS HELP TO NORMALIZE IT. Indiana lawmakers are considering two bills that would ban or restrict advertisements about marijuana.One of the bills would make promoting marijuana products illegal across the state, while the other would enforce restrictions.The proposed legislation comes as Indiana remains one of the few states against legalizing recreational and medical marijuana.”One of the reasons I live in Indiana is because I want to live in a place where drug use is not normalized, and I think that the advertisements helped to normalize it,” said Travis Timm, Green Stem budtender.Both bills have had a first reading in a committee but no action has been taken.
