LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A man is facing charges after investigators found marijuana and a defaced gun inside his home in north Lincoln on Tuesday.

The Lincoln Police Department obtained a search warrant for 24-year-old Deaviea Brown’s apartment near 33rd and Folkways Boulevard, as well as his vehicle, as part of an ongoing weapons and narcotics investigation. Brown was detained when he arrived home in his vehicle.

An arrest affidavit shows authorities found 7.9 grams of marijuana in Brown’s vehicle.

During a search of his home, investigators found nine bags of marijuana totaling 60.2 grams, packaging materials, digital scales, and cash. They also discovered a defaced Palmetto State Armory 9mm handgun with a loaded magazine.

A criminal history check revealed that Brown is a convicted felon in Lancaster County, and Nebraska law prohibits felons from possessing firearms.

Brown was charged with possessing a defaced firearm, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a firearm with a felony 2A drug violation and possessing money while violating 28-416.

A judge set his bond at 10 percent of $450,000. Brown is scheduled for a hearing in Lancaster County Court on Feb. 25.
