PRESS RELEASE FROM THE WEST TENNESSEE DRUG TASK FORCE – 28TH, 29TH, 30TH DISTRICTS:

On the evening of January 22nd, 2025, Agents with the 30th Judicial District out of Shelby County conducted a traffic stop on I-40 in Haywood County for failure to maintain lane of travel.

During the stop, an Agent developed reasonable suspicion that more criminal activity was occurring and deployed Canine Athena around the pickup / horse trailer combo. Canine Athena alerted to the presence of a narcotic odor and a probable cause search of the vehicle combo was conducted.

During the search, Agents located 85 lbs. of vacuum sealed marijuana hidden inside of the horse trailer that originated out of Oklahoma and was destined to Nashville.

One male was arrested and charged with traffic and narcotics charges.

The case Agent and Canine are assigned full time by the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office.

This case is being prosecuted by The Office of the District Attorney General, 28th Judicial District, Frederick Agee.
