A California man received a deferred sentence for trafficking 260 pounds of marijuana, a felony charge reduced to a misdemeanor in Cherokee County District Court.

Court records indicate Augustin Fridlender, 48, Grass Valley, California, was arrested May 2, 2023, after the Hulbert Police Department discovered the marijuana in his possession. The felony trafficking charge was filed against him May 10, 2023, and he received a $40,000 bond. Two days later, Fridlender first pleaded not guilty to the charge.

On Jan. 29, the defendant pleaded guilty to the charge, which was reduced to misdemeanor of possession of marijuana. He received a two-year deferred sentence. Fridlender was represented by Muskogee attorney Dan Medlock; Associate District Judge Joshua King presided over the case.
