A man was caught with cannabis after police smelt it coming from inside his car.

Officers from Thames Valley Police’s Rural Crime Taskforce came across the man parked in a rural area near Wantage today (February 1).

They stopped to speak with him and “were instantly hit by the pungent smell of cannabis”, they said.

The man was searched and offered a Community Resolution – a method of dealing with lower level crimes out of court.

He was ordered to complete an online drugs education course.

The officers were completing hare coursing patrols in the Wantage area and will be on patrol all weekend.

Anyone who sees hare coursing in progress should call 999.
