San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office deputies said the job’s foreman confessed to owning a backpack containing marijuana.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office deputies were working their routine security shifts at Odem-Edroy ISD when a strong odor of marijuana reportedly called attention to a roofing company at an on-campus facility.

Sheriff Oscar Rivera said his agents smelled the scent from a company truck. When on-duty deputies responded to the school, they discovered a backpack that also smelled of marijuana.

Deputies went up to the roof where they met the job foreman, who claimed ownership of the backpack and confirmed that it contained marijuana.

Rivera said the man was arrested on multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

The sheriff said he believes the District Attorney could choose to upgrade based on the district’s Drug Free Zones policy.
