MARION, Ill. (WSIL) — A man faces gun and drug charges a traffic stop in Marion recently.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said on January 30, at 9 p.m., deputies saw a vehicle in the area of Illinois 13 and Highway 37 driving without headlights on.
After deputies pulled over the vehicle, they reported the driver didn’t have a license. After they checked the driver’s status, the sheriff’s office said the driver gave a false name to them. They then identified the driver as Anthony Shadowens and said he had an outstanding warrant for a burglary charge out of Williamson County.
Shadowens was accused of giving his brother’s name and was then taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office said deputies found methamphetamine, cannabis and a loaded handgun as well.
They also said the serial number on the gun was scraped off.
