CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A Conway man’s mail landed him in prison.

The 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office announced that a jury convicted Jessie Bueno, 39, of trafficking marijuana on Tuesday.

Prosecutors said Bueno plotted to have about 17 pounds of marijuana mailed to his home in Horry County from Washington on Sept. 23, 2022. When authorities searched Bueno’s home that day, they found the drugs hidden in the insulation of the home’s attic.

A judge sentenced Bueno to three years in prison. The maximum sentence for the charge is 10 years in prison.

The solicitor’s office thanked the Horry County Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division for their work on the case.
