REDDING, Calif. — Officers with the Neighborhood Police Unit (NPU) uncovered meth, multiple pounds of marijuana, bags of fentanyl, guns and more inside a hotel room of a known parolee on Thursday.

According to the Redding Police Department (RPD), 46-year-old Michael Orosco, of Redding, on parole for assault with a deadly weapon, was contacted in the parking lot of the La Quinta Hotel on Hilltop Drive on Feb. 13. Police said NPU officers conducted a parole search of Orosco and found a methamphetamine smoking pip and a hotel room key.

NPU officers then searched Orosco’s hotel room, where they found 69.9 grams of meth, five bags of fentanyl—the exact amount unreported—as well as a loaded 9mm pistol, a loaded rifle magazine with 7.62x29mm ammunition, four pounds of processed marijuana and other items linked to narcotics trafficking, according to the RPD.

Ultimately, police said Orosco was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on multiple felony charges related to narcotics and weapon offenses.
