Golden Rookie, located at 605 Grand Ave., became Grand Junction’s newest pot shop to open with a soft opening this weekend.
Trisha Williams, one of the owners, said the store was originally planned to open in November, but had some problems with its accessibility ramp.
Williams said she wants the store to be more of an experience for shoppers. She also said she wants prices and products to be clearly marked.
“We were able to design an experience that we think is unique and different from other experiences you have out there in the Grand Junction area right now,” Williams said.
Williams said she wants Golden Rookie’s budtenders to be able to build a repertoire with consumers and become part of the community.
“A lot of thought was put into this and, again, we just want to partner not just with our brands but with our customers,” Williams said. “We want to know you, we want to know what you like, we want to get in things that maybe you recommend.”
Golden Rookie is the ninth store to open in Grand Junction, following Lucky Me Dispensary at 2648 Patterson Road, Colorado Weedery at 879 Struthers Ave., Native Roots at 683 Horizon Dr. Unit 110, Grand Junction Greenery at 762 Horizon Dr., 545 Colorado Ave., The Green Horizon at 739 Horizon Dr. Unit B, The Buzz at Third Street and North Avenue, and Canna Care at 250 Fisher Ave.
The final store to open, Kai Dispensary at 914 South Ave. is scheduled to open in the coming weeks.
A grand opening for Golden Rookie is tentatively scheduled for Saturday.
