Kitchen full of marijuana plants leads to arrest of South Carolina man

IT’S TIME FOR NEWS TO GO. WE HAVE A LOOK AT TODAY’S TOP NEWS STORIES. YOUR TRAFFIC AND YOUR WEATHER ALL BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT THE DOOR. WE START WITH ELON MUSK’S THREAT TO FIRE FEDERAL WORKERS. CALLS FOR CLARITY ARE GROWING AROUND AN EMAIL ASKING FEDERAL EMPLOYEES WHAT THEY DID LAST WEEK. IT’S NOW PAST THE RESPONSE DEADLINE LISTED ON THE EMAIL, BUT ELON MUSK IS DOUBLING DOWN. HE SAYS EMPLOYEES WILL GET ANOTHER CHANCE TO SUBMIT ANSWERS, BUT FAILURE TO RESPOND A SECOND TIME WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION. THAT POST COMES AFTER A CONTRADICTORY MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT, AND SEVERAL FEDERAL AGENCIES SAY THEY DON’T WANT THEIR EMPLOYEES TO ANSWER. PRESIDENT TRUMP DEFENDED MUSK’S LETTER GOVERNMENT BY ASKING THE QUESTION TELL US WHAT YOU DID THIS WEEK. WHAT HE’S DOING IS SAYING, ARE YOU ACTUALLY WORKING? AND THEN IF YOU DON’T ANSWER, LIKE YOU’RE SORT OF SEMI FIRED OR YOU’RE FIRED BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE NOT ANSWERING BECAUSE THEY DON’T EVEN EXIST. A HANDFUL OF REPUBLICANS ARE JOINING THOSE WHO SAY THE MIXED MESSAGES ARE CONFUSING. HOUSE REPUBLICANS ARE SET TO VOTE ON THEIR BUDGET AS SOON AS TODAY, ENACTING VIRTUALLY ALL OF PRESIDENT TRUMP’S TOP DOMESTIC PRIORITIES AT ONCE. AMY LU IS ON CAPITOL HILL WITH WHAT IT INCLUDES. ERIN AND DESTINY. THIS IS A NUMBERS GAME. AT THE END OF THE DAY, WHERE HOUSE REPUBLICANS CAN ONLY AFFORD TO LOSE ONE OF THEIR OWN IN ORDER TO PASS TODAY’S BUDGET BILL. THE HOUSE BUDGET PLAN, SPENDING OVER THE NEXT DECADE AND IS BALLED UP INTO ONE BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL LIKE PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS ASKED FOR, INCLUDING UP TO $4.5 TRILLION IN TAX CUTS, A $4 TRILLION INCREASE IN THE DEBT LIMIT, AND FUNDS TOP REPUBLICAN PRIORITIES LIKE BORDER DEFENSE AND IMMIGRATION SPENDING, WITH THE GOAL OF MASSIVE CUTS. THE BILL WANTS HOUSE COMMITTEES TO REDUCE SPENDING BY $1.5 TRILLION AND LESS SPENDING ON SOCIAL PROGRAMS LIKE MEDICAID, WITH NO DEMOCRATS EXPECTED TO VOTE FOR THE BILL, REPUBLICANS, WITH THEIR SLIM MAJORITY, CANNOT HAVE MORE THAN ONE DEFECTOR. THERE MAY BE MORE THAN ONE, BUT THEY’LL GET THERE. WE’RE GOING TO GET EVERYBODY THERE. THIS IS A PRAYER REQUEST. JUST PRAY THIS THROUGH FOR US BECAUSE IT IS VERY HIGH STAKES. AND EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT THIS BUDGET IS A BETRAYAL OF WORKING CLASS AMERICANS, OF MIDDLE CLASS AMERICANS AND OF EVERYDAY AMERICANS. THEY WANT TO JAM $4.5 TRILLION WORTH OF TAX CUTS DOWN THE THROATS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO BENEFIT THEIR BILLIONAIRE DONORS AND WEALTHY CORPORATIONS. ADDING TO TENSIONS OVER TODAY’S VOTE, SOME HOUSE REPUBLICANS ARE DEMANDING THE BUDGET HAVE MORE TAX CUTS. OTHERS WANT STEEPER SPENDING CUTS. MEANWHILE, DEMOCRATS PLAN TO PROTEST THE VOTE OUTSIDE THE CAPITOL THIS AFTERNOON ON CAPITOL HILL.
