Ohio Senate passes bill to address public safety concerns around marijuana
The Ohio Senate passed a bill Wednesday designed to address public safety concerns and other administrative issues surrounding legal weed.Senate Bill 56 merges the state’s medical and adult-use marijuana programs under the Division of Cannabis Control.Lawmakers said the bill allows for more consistency when it comes to regulating testing, packaging, labeling and advertising products.”In short, this bill is about government efficiency, consumer and child safety, and maintaining access to voter-approved adult-use marijuana,” said Sen. Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City).The bill also bans smoking marijuana in public or in a car, no matter who is driving. It also prohibits growing marijuana in homes that serve as in-home childcare programs.
