RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A man has been arrested after deputies found nearly 600 pounds of marijuana in his car
It happened on Friday in north Reno near Red Rock Rd.
Deputies say they stopped a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van on a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Kings Ojata.
While speaking with Ojata, deputies say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the van. A search revealed 21 boxes containing 10 smaller vacuum-sealed boxes. Those contained pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes.
The van and its contents were taken in as evidence, with the total weight of the marijuana being 593 lbs.
Deputies say the total value was estimated to be approximately $889,500.
Ojata was booked into the Washoe County jail on felony drug trafficking charges.
