A marijuana plant is visible at a medical marijuana dispensary.
It’s been nine years since Massachusetts legalized recreational marijuana, seven years since retail sales began, and Mass. residents are feeling the flower power more than ever.
Cannabis sales hit an annual record in the state, totaling $1.64 billion in gross sales for 2024, according to the Mass. Cannabis Control Commission. WWLP-22News reported 127 new licenses were granted in 2024, and 650 licensed marijuana establishments currently operating across the state.
When we asked readers for their favorite shops last year, nearly 2,000 responded with over 100 dispensary recommendations. Bud’s Goods & Provisions in Abington, Watertown, and Worcestor; Cal Verde Naturals in Belmont; and Elevated Roots in Kingston and Halifax were among the top responses.
“The staff is always welcoming and friendly. They always know which products are best, and they always have a great attitude. I leave this dispensary with a smile on my face every time! In addition, they have a wonderful selection and fabulous prices. I’m a big fan and will always recommend,” Victoria M. from Whitman said of Bud’s in 2024.
