A California man is jailed in Alabama after police said he was found with 24 pounds of marijuana stashed in a suitcase at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.

Birmingham Police Department’s vice and narcotics detectives on Friday arrested 22-year-old Christian Machado on Friday. He is from Fresno.

Details surrounding the arrest have not been released.

The suspect had more than 10 kilos of packaged marijuana in a roller suitcase. The load has a street value of $163,860, according to Birmingham police.

Machado is charged with trafficking marijuana. He remains held in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $500,000.

Machado is set to make his first court appearance on Tuesday.
