[#item_full_content] Amid residents’ complaints of speeding and excessive marijuana smoke in the air downtown, the Public Safety Commission joined Mayor Ginny Desorgher and Police Chief Todd Dodge to discuss how, and to what extent, police should work to remedy the issues.Stricter enforcement of the city’s public smoking ordinances and increased signage around streets that receive significant speeding complaints were brought forward as potential solutions, however, although the city can legally issue citations for smoking on city-owned sidewalks and parks, Dodge said he was hesitant to enforce public smoking laws with tickets.
