The Miramichi Police Force issued a news release on Tuesday saying Jeremie Cormier of Saint-Norbert and Julie Surette of Cocagne appeared in provincial court on March 27 and were charged with possessing cocaine for trafficking purposes.
Surette was released on conditions and with a future court date. Cormier was held in custody and scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday for a bail hearing.
Police said the bust was part of an ongoing investigation led by the Miramichi Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) into cocaine and meth trafficking in the city and surrounding areas.
“Our IEU has been doing significant work, both in Miramichi and assisting other IEUs around the province,” Miramichi Police Force Chief Brian Cummings said in the release. “This is just another example of the outstanding work being done to combat drug issues in the province.
“Drug dealers should know by now that, if they want to ply their trade in Miramichi, the IEU will be looking them up.””}]]  Read More
