WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A Waco woman was arrested after marijuana and a loaded gun were left in places accessible to a child inside her home, an affidavit alleges.
Dezirae Daniel, 18, is charged with abandonment/endangerment of a child involving criminal negligence.
On Jan. 2, the affidavit states officers were sent to the 1900 block of Windsor Avenue to help officers that were fighting someone.
When officers arrived, the affidavit states other officers were trying to keep a door open as the residents of a home were trying to keep officers out.
Officers, according to the affidavit, were able to push the door open and detain Deaderin Johnson and Daniel in the living room.
Police noticed a short barrel gun on the floor by the couch that was loaded, the affidavit alleges.
While doing a sweep of the home, the affidavit states officers found marijuana and an additional gun on the kitchen counter.
All items collected by police were in places accessible to the 1-year-old child that lived in the home, the affidavit alleges.
Dezirae, according to the affidavit, was subsequently arrested for being one of the parents responsible in the home and knowingly allowing guns and drugs to be left accessible to the child.
Daniel was booked into the McLennan County Jail and is being held on a $5,000 bond.
