An Allegany County couple alleged to be running a marijuana growing operation has been arrested on federal charges, U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced.

Daniel S. Ackerman, 58, and Ana L. Maldonado-Delgado, 31, both of Cuba, have been charged by criminal complaint with manufacture and possession with intent to distribute 100 or more marijuana plants.
If convicted, they face a mandatory minimum of five years in prison, a maximum of 40 years, and a $5 million fine.
According to the complaint, a search warrant was executed at the couple’s home on Farnsworth Road on Oct. 10 after the Cuba Police Department investigated a report of a large-scale marijuana growing operation.
During the search, prosecutors said, investigators seized 475 growing marijuana plants, 124 dried marijuana plants, a large quantity of processed marijuana, 10 glass jars containing liquid cannabis concentrate, a 9mm pistol, suspected psilocybin mushrooms and drug paraphernalia.
