Authorities announced the seizure of more than $100 million in processed marijuana from a residential property in Oak Hills.
Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant around 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, on a five-acre property in the 5000 block of Honeyhill Road in Oak Hills, which is west of Hesperia, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Inside a newly built metal building along the property’s eastern fence, investigators found more than 3,000 trash bags filled with processed marijuana and stacked more than 12 feet high, filling the 120-by-40-foot building, a Sheriff’s Department statement said.
Each bag weighed 30 to 50 pounds.
The Sheriff’s Department, San Bernardino County Code Enforcement and California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials seized 51 truck loads of processed marijuana over two days, totaling more than 90,000 pounds. In all, the marijuana had a market value of around $100 million, the Sheriff’s Department said.
No arrests had been made.
Sheriff Shannon Dicus said in January that law enforcement was working to curb a “plague” of black-market marijuana sales in the area. The black market exists, officials say, because legal cultivation of marijuana hasn’t kept up with demand.
All such cannabis businesses are prohibited in unincorporated parts of San Bernardino County such as Oak Hills, according to the state Department of Cannabis Control.
