TISHOMINGO, OK (KTUL) — Authorities in Johnston County, Oklahoma, have busted an illegal marijuana grow operation in the eastern part of the county, south of the Coleman area. The operation was uncovered early Wednesday morning following a collaborative investigation involving the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN), and the Oklahoma ABLE Commission.
JCSO reportedly received information about the illegal operation months ago.
According to JCSO, a State Trooper provided crucial information from a traffic stop, which advanced the investigation. Undersheriff Chris Smith contacted the OBN to verify the legality of the grow operation. It was confirmed that the operation was illegal and lacked the necessary licensing, having been denied an OBN license multiple times.
Law officials seized 669 marijuana plants and 10 pounds of processed marijuana, and a loaded AR-15 style rifle was also confiscated during the operation.
