[[{“value”:”Marijuana concentrate sold at two Denver area dispensaries has been recalled by state regulators over the presence of a banned pesticide.
A January 31 health and safety notice from the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division says that traces of chlorfenapyr were detected in extracted products sold at Levels dispensaries. According to the MED, concentrate made by Denver Dab Co. was produced specifically for Levels dispensaries, located at 5201 West 48th Avenue in Denver and 389 Wadsworth Boulevard in Lakewood.
Chlorfenapyr is an insecticide approved for application on cotton and ornamental plants by the Environmental Protection Agency. It is federally banned from being used on food crops, however, as the chemical is considered toxic to humans and can be fatal when ingested.
In addition to the contaminated Denver Dab Co. product sold at Levels, at least one more batch was “manufactured using the same inputs” and is considered “potentially contaminated” by the MED. The recalled products were from November 15 to December 4 of last year, the MED notes.
According to the recall, the affected extracts all have the production facility license number on their packaging (404R-00357), as well as their production numbers: L36190, L36196 and L36446.
“Consumers who have this affected marijuana in their possession should destroy it or return it to the Regulated Marijuana Store from which it was purchased for proper disposal. Consumers who experience adverse health effects from consuming the Regulated Marijuana should seek medical attention immediately and report the event to the Marijuana Enforcement Division by submitting a MED Reporting Form,” the health and safety notice reads.
Denver Dab Co. did not respond to a request for comment.
This is the second time in less than three weeks that Levels dispensaries have been connected to a recall. On January 13, the MED flagged medical and recreational marijuana grown and sold by Levels over mold contamination. That recall impacted 38 harvest batches of marijuana flower, shake and trim, and stretched all the way back to 2023.
This is the thirdmarijuana recall issued by the MED in 2025, and the second in just three days. On January 28, Colorado marijuana officials recalled flower sold at 58 dispensaries from wholesale grower Bud & Mary’s over mold and yeast concerns.
