Hard to believe this is already the last Trade To Black podcast for January, but happy Friday! Hosts Shadd Dales and Anthony Varrell welcome in Tyler Beuerlein, Chief Strategic Business Development Officer at Safe Harbor Financial (NASDAQ: SHFS), to speculate on how Donald Trump might reshape the cannabis industry and promote reform. Safe Harbour is a leading provider of financial services tailored to the cannabis industry, and with his extensive experience, Beuerlein has facilitated over half a billion dollars in transactions and helped open 1,000 cannabis bank accounts.
Beuerlein believes legislative progress is now more likely than ever because of three key catalysts: (1) a potential shift to Schedule III, which would allow cannabis job statistics to be included in labor reports, benefiting the administration’s economic stance; (2) opposition to Operation Chokepoint, which previously restricted banking for certain industries, aligning cannabis with conservative interests; and (3) Trump’s focus on a flat corporate tax, which would positively impact cannabis industry revenues.
Unlike some others, Beuerlein believes these catalysts will have little to do with either the industry or advocacy and everything to do with economic and political strategy, because Trump seeks “wins” in all aspects.
Tune in for the discussion in which Beuerlein believes that Schedule 3 or decriminalization will occur purely due to perceived job growth, and why he thinks this is a likely outcome. We will also explore why he believes that SAFE Banking has the best chance it has ever had to pass, and how it would be another win for the Trump administration. Additionally, Trump has been vocal about a flat corporate tax, which, although unrelated to cannabis, could benefit the industry.
Plus, we have the latest news from Kentucky, where Governor Andy Beshear has awarded the state’s first medical marijuana patient cards and is calling on the Commonwealth’s congressional delegation to advance legislation protecting patients’ constitutional right to own firearms. Right here, this episode.
