FLINT, Mich. – Professional boxer, self-professed “GWOAT,” and Flint native Claressa Shields has been suspended after testing positive for marijuana, according to several reports.
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) told Mid-Michigan NOW that a Formal Complaint and Order of Summary Suspension was issued on February 12, 2025, against Shields’ professional boxer license.
LARA did not provide any further comment on the matter.
Multiple reports state that the suspension was issued by the Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission after an oral fluid sample was taken.
