BRISTOL, Conn. — When the Bristol Police Department’s newest crime fighting unit hit the streets for the first time on Monday, it found immediate success.
During the Crime Suppression Unit’s first shift, law enforcement personnel arrested a New Britain man who allegedly had cocaine and over three pounds of marijuana in his vehicle, according to Bristol police.
Members of the Crime Suppression Unit confronted 26-year-old Coron Burrell after seeing him operate a vehicle that had refused to stop for officers during a previous incident.
Bristol police say that during the encounter, members of the unit located 3.3 pounds of marijuana in the car that was packaged for sale. They also reportedly found 1.8 grams of cocaine and seized over $700 in cash.
According to the police department, the estimated street value of the marijuana is around $8,000.
Burrell was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance and misuse of plates. Bristol police say Burrell will appear in court next month.
