COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Deputies say a man was shot while trying to steal a marijuana plant over the weekend.
The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office said a person was shot in the 11000 block of Pickerington Road on Saturday around 7:20 a.m. Deputies arrested27-year-old Jarrod Martin and charged him with felonious assault.
Court records said Martin grabbed his pistol and fired several rounds as the victim and two other men were allegedly attempting to steal a marijuana plant.
The victim was shot and taken to Grant Medical Center in critical but stable condition. Deputies said Martin told them he saw the victim dragging the plant away and fired to prevent the theft of his plant.
Martin is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on October 16.
