New Delhi: Customs atIndira Gandhi International Airportseized 60.88 kg of hydroponic marijuana from passengers in three different cases, officers said on Sunday. The seized narcotic substances were worth crores.

During the baggage searches by Customs officers on duty, 42 polythene pouches in one grey and one olive green trolley bag containing green-coloured narcotic substances suspected to be marijuana were found, weighing 36.9 kg.
“When this material was subjected to a diagnostic test, prima facie it appeared to be ganja/marijuana. The value of said substance is nearly Rs 39 crores,” said an officer. The officer added that both passengers were arrested and the narcotic substance was seized under theNDPS Act.
In the second case, Customs officers intercepted an Indian passenger travelling from Bangkok to Colombo and further to New Delhi at Terminal 3 on March 29. The officer said the examination of the passenger’s grey trolley bag resulted in the recovery of 12 pouches containing green-coloured narcotic substances. The net weight of the seized contraband was 12 kg, valued at around Rs 12 crores. “Following a preliminary diagnostic test confirming the substance as marijuana, the passenger was arrested under the NDPS Act,” said the officer.
In the third case, Customs officers found 19 polythene pouches containing green-coloured narcotic substances, weighing 11.9 kg, from the possession of an Indian passenger.
