A Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services employee was arrested on distribution charges after Troop NOLA found half a pound of marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to public information officer Sgt. Kate Stegall.

At around noon on Wednesday, troopers stopped Anthony Reed, 27, at North Claiborne Avenue near Elysian Fields Avenue for multiple traffic violations. They allegedly found 218 grams of marijuana in his Toyota sedan.

Reed was booked into Orleans Justice Center on one count of possession with intent to distribute schedule 1 narcotics and various traffic-related offenses, state police said.

“The safety and well-being of children and families is our highest priority. When a situation arises involving one of our staff members that calls that commitment into question, we take it seriously,” DCFS Secretary David Matlock said in a statement. “We are grateful to our law enforcement partners for their continued collaboration and dedication to public safety. Their work plays an essential role in upholding accountability and maintaining trust across the systems that serve Louisiana’s families.”
